Intelligent control technology for stainless steel color plates: an interactive revolution from electrochromic to temperature sensitive response

Summary:

Intelligent stainless steel color plates achieve dynamic color changes by responding to stimuli such as electric fields and temperatures, bringing innovation to the fields of architecture, transportation, and consumer electronics. In this paper, a three-mode integration scheme of "electrochromism temperature sensitive response photochromism" is proposed, which combines electrochemical testing, spectral analysis and cycle life experiment to realize intelligent interaction of color plate with response time less than 3 seconds, cycle life>10 ‰ times and color contrast>60%.

Electrochromic technology:

All solid state device: The structure is ITO/WO3 (200nm)/LiTaO 3 (50nm)/NiO (150nm)/ITO, achieving reversible color change from colorless to deep blue at ± 3V voltage, with a coloring efficiency of 120cm 2/C and a cycle life of 10 ⁵ times;

Flexible electrochromic film: PEDOT: PSS hydrogel electrolyte and AgNW transparent electrode are used. When the bending radius is<2mm, the color contrast is still>40%, the response time is<2s, and the power consumption is<0.05mW/cm2;

Energy self supply system: integrating perovskite solar cells (efficiency 18%) and supercapacitors (capacity 1mF) to achieve self powered color change in an off grid state, meeting the daily color change requirements of smart windows up to 10 times.

Temperature sensitive response technology:

Liquid crystal microcapsule coating: Encapsulate cholesteric liquid crystals in polyurethane microcapsules (diameter 10 μ m), adjust the reflection wavelength (550-700nm) through temperature changes (25-45 ℃), achieve color saturation>80%, and achieve polarization color change through magnetic field assisted directional alignment;

VO ₂ phase change thin film: A VO ₂ thin film with a thickness of 80nm was prepared using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The metal insulator phase transition occurred at 68 ℃, with a sudden change in transmittance>40% and a response time<100ms. It is applied to smart glasses to achieve automatic dimming;

Thermochromic efficiency: Temperature sensitive color boards are applied to air conditioning outdoor units, which reduce energy consumption by 15% and narrow the surface temperature fluctuation range to ± 2 ℃ through color feedback temperature changes.

Photochromic technology:

Spiropyran/diarylethylene composite dye: A photochromic layer (thickness 5 μ m) is coated on the surface of a color plate, which changes from colorless to deep purple within 10 seconds under 365nm UV irradiation and fades within 60 seconds under visible light. The cycle life is>10 ⁴ times, and multi-color switching can be achieved by adjusting the dye ratio;

Upconversion luminescence assistance: By using NaYF ₄: Yb 3 ⁺, Er 3 ⁺ upconversion nanoparticles, 980nm near-infrared light is converted into UV light, achieving photochromism under deep tissue penetration, with a penetration depth of up to 2mm. It is applied in biological labeling and anti-counterfeiting;

Outdoor durability: After QUV accelerated aging for 500 hours, the color changing efficiency of the photochromic color board decreases by less than 8%, which is 6 times higher than the traditional spraying process.

Multimodal integrated design:

Three mode response color plate: integrate the three functions of electrochromism (voltage), temperature sensitive response (temperature) and photochromism (light), realize color logic control (such as "high temperature red+strong light purple") through the microcontroller, and there is no interference between the modes;

Human computer interaction interface: applied to the Tesla car central control panel, adjusting the transparency of the electrochromic area through touch gestures, achieving dynamic switching between navigation information and decorative effects, with a response delay of less than 50ms;

Energy saving application in buildings: Temperature sensitive color panels are used on the glass curtain wall of Microsoft headquarters, reflecting infrared radiation in summer (reflectivity>80%) and achieving a light transmittance of>70% in winter, with an annual energy saving rate of 25%.

Future prospects:

Flexible wearable devices: electrochromic stainless steel color plate and fabric composite, realizing real-time personalized adjustment of clothing color, with a market potential of over billions of dollars;

Metaverse entrance: Combining photochromic color plates with AR technology to construct a dynamic interactive virtual space interface with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a latency of less than 10ms.
